The following download file, “all-epub-files” contains all the English Dafa books, lectures, and articles, formatted in the standard ePub ebook format, for reading with ebook-reader software on devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, Nook, Sony reader, etc., as well as Windows and Macintosh computers. This ZIP file contains over 150 individual files, each representing one lecture, book, or article.
The beauty of the ePub format is that it is well-supported and flexible. When you enlarge or reduce the font size, or rotate the screen, the text re-wraps and re-flows to properly fill the screen. The text never becomes ‘too wide’ to fit, regardless of font size or screen orientation. Each article can be searched, and bookmarks can be saved with dates.
The most economical portable electronic reader is the Nook Simple Touch ($99 – $119 from Barnes & Noble). The iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices offer more features however, including color screens and applications. Note: Amazon Kindle readers are not compatible with ePub documents.
To read ePub files on your Windows or Mac computer, please install the Adobe Digital Editions application: http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions.html.

Note:
The above change log list is useful for those of you who have previously downloaded the all-epub-files package, and wish to obtain improved versions of the files listed in the change log, or newly added articles. To update your reader, simply re-download the all-epub-files file above. Open the file and sort the files by date. Then select those files which have dates later than when you previously downloaded the package, and install those on your device.
How to add ePub files to your iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad:
“iBooks” is an ebook reading application for the iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad (check the app store if it’s not already available on your device). It works very well for reading Dafa books and lectures and is free. It has adjustable font size, and portrait / landscape reading modes, search, multiple bookmarks, etc.
Here’s how to copy these ePub files to iBooks on your iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad:
- Click on all-files.zip link, above, and save the file on your desktop
- Double-click the all-files icon to unzip the file.
- Load iTunes
- In the left-hand column of iTunes, in the “Library” section near the top, click on the word Books. (in the new iTunes 11, released in November 2012, click the large button near the upper-left corner of the iTunes window, and select “Books”)
- If Books does not appear, click iTunes–> Preferences–> General and checkmark “Books” in the list of items to show. Now, you should be able to click on Books in the Library section (per the previous step).
- NOTE: If there are no books listed in this Books area, you will need to download a free book from the iTunes Store to enable the dragging function to work. There will be a link to download books on this page if that’s the case. Click the link, then search for a free book, like “100 Quotations” which is very short, quick, and free download to get you started. Now that a book is present on this Library-Books area, you can go to the next step.
- Drag the ePub documents from your desktop into the Books window in iTunes.
- The lectures and books will now be copied to the device.
- NOTE: If you have installed iOS5 (or greater) on your Apple device, your books will sync with your iPhone device wirelessly. Enable wireless sync in iTunes–>Device–>Summary, and don’t “eject” your device in iTunes, just unplug the cable to start syncing wirelessly.
- If you still have iOS4, make sure books syncing is enabled in iTunes (click your device in left-hand column, then click “Books” at top of right-hand window, and check mark “Sync Books.” Connect your device and the books will be copied to it.
“Stanza,” a previously recommended epub book reader, is no longer supported by its author, and does not work well with Apple’s newer operating systems, beginning with iOS5. On 11/20/11, Stanza received a “final” update, and is now said to be compatible with iOS5, but some people are still experiencing crashes. Not recommended.
Hi,
What do you use to edit epub files? I found Sigil on line but before starting it wanted to have advise from practitioners who’ve been doing this before. I want to create an epub for the Albanian verion of ZHF but staza desktop doesn’t pick up well titled etc.
Thanks.
Erka
Hi @Erka,
I use Calibre to convert to epub. Many of the original Word files have lots of styles combined with font modifications. This causes improper display in the epub file. Title fonts and styles usually need to be adjusted too.
I modify the styles used in Word to display the desired font, make them consistent, and remove all locally applied font changes. Then I save as html, and convert in Calibre. http://calibre-ebook.com/
I’ve used Sigil too, but found that making the changes in Word prior to conversion was the best way to get a clean result.
Hi there. Thanks for doing this!
I wonder if you have considered converting the “collected writings by date” found on the FalunDafa.org website, here: http://www.falundafa.org/eng/books_date.html
The reason I ask is that it seems you have a separate file for each article and this may make it difficult when reading articles in a group, where we would often read short articles together chronologically.
Best regards,
Jason in Toronto
Hi Jason, There should be files in the zip for all the writings on the web page you listed. Are you asking about having the various lectures and articles in a single epub file?
Organizing multiple writings is mostly controlled by the reader software. To make finding and reading easier, when I used Stanza, I labeled each article with a category label of the year (in the Stanza reader program). This allowed me to see, for example, all the 2003 writings grouped together, and thus find the desired article or lecture quickly. iBooks doesn’t make doing this as easy as Stanza did, so I’m not sure what the ideal solution would be at this point.
Thanks for the help. Just wondering if all articles in Chinese can be converted to this format as well?
I am trying to rename the files by putting the year in which the article published first and then the article name. Hopefully this can help to solve Jazon’s question.
Nathalie
@Nathalie – You shouldn’t need to rename the files, in order to search by date. To search in iBooks just type the year in search field above the book list. All the lectures given during that year will instantly appear. Every lecture already has the date in the filename and title.
As for converting the Chinese, that would have to be done by someone who speaks the language. If I learn of a Chinese version, I’ll post info on this page.
Hi,
Thanks alot for this.
Ben
Hi, Do you have this reading in Chinese ? or only in English?
Regards
Kim
@Kim, The epub files on this site are only available in English. If I hear of a Chinese version of the epub files being available, I’ll post information about it on this page. Thanks.
Hi, I came across this site by accident this morning – it’s great! I spent hours converting the Word docs from Clearwisdom to ePubs using Calibre. I was viewing them on my iPhone using Stanza and it worked great, until recently when Stanza kept crashing and then I’d lose the files and have to copy them over again. That’s happened several times. I had no idea why until I read your explanation. I didn’t know Calibre well enough to do much formatting, so looking forward to reading the files you’ve put up. I know how much time it takes, so thank you!
When I named my files, I put the year first followed by the location of the lecture, that way they sorted automatically (by year) which made it really easy to find files. I also had all the smaller jingwen in one combined file with heading styles so you could easily browse between the jingwen. That did require a bit of maintenance though, because I had to update the Word doc every time a new short jingwen was published and then reconvert to epub. I also had each chapter of ZF as a separate file (10 files – 9 lectures and Lunyu) which kept the files smaller.
Thanks again.
Louise
@Louise – All the writings now have the date included in the title. A search on the date (i.e., “2005″) finds all the titles for that year, so its not essential that the date be first in the title.
How to add Dafa books in iPad?
I believe that adding books to an iPad will be the same as an iPhone. Use iTunes as described above.
Thanks so much for doing this.
Very helpful.
Good journey.
Laura.
hello,
thanks for adding this! it’s very helpful! But I have one question, how do I change the name of the file? I changed it in Itunes but on my Itouch there’s no response… any help? For example from ZFL to Zhuan Falun or something. THANKS!
I don’t think you can change the title, other than when the epub book is initially created. The Zhuan Falun books are currently titled “Zhuan Falun 2000,” “Zhuan Falun 2003,” etc.
These are so useful, thanks so much for the time and effort you’re putting into this. Keep up the good work!
But one thing I would say is that Stanza is fantastic on the iPhone – much better than iBooks. Seems to work fine for me.
@John, Stanza had some nice features, but its days are limited now that it’s no longer supported.
One big advantage of iBooks is the search function. With Stanza, after searching for text, it often failed to navigate to the proper page. Searching seems to work flawlessly in iBooks.
Thanks, this is great! I don’t know if I have missed them, or is it correct that the latest lectures from around 2010 and forward are not in this collection?
Best,
Sofia, Stockholm
I’m sorry, I think I’ve found them. However, today I wanted to update to the latest epub zip file, but couldn’t drag the files over to the books library. Do you have any clue why this is?
Make sure you’re dragging the books files into the Books folder in the Library section of iTunes, not the Devices section.
Yay! Thanks lol
Greetings fellow disciples!!! Just in case someone has a Kindle and has trouble getting the lectures and writings onto it , i found a nice website that will convert .DOC files to.MOBI ( its better to convert from .DOC than .PDF )
The website is www (dot) 2epub (dot) com
Kind Regards
Taavi
Thank you so much, I just typed in google search “Falun Dafa books zip” and this page came up. Thank you to all Disciples who helped with this. This just saved me hours of work trying to figure it out on my own. I am sure the creator of the page has gained much mighty virtue, your time spent on creating this page I am sure has saved hundreds of hours all together.
Thank you Ben. If you (or others) have any questions about using these epub files, please feel free to leave a comment.
You still can use Stanza to read these files.
Also, I emailed ZhuanFalun2003 ePub file to myself, and open it with my iPhone, then I can use iBooka to open the file. Not sure any other ways to get it into iBook
Yes, any ePub reader can be used to read these files. On Apple devices iBooks is the best choice.
The method of getting ebooks into your device using iTunes is detailed above. You can also use Dropbox to do this. Drop the ebook into Dropbox on your desktop/laptop computer, then click on the file in the Dropbox app on your iPhone or iPad. Dropbox will tell you it can’t read the file. At that point click on the share button (box with arrow) and you’ll see some icons, one of which will be iBooks. Clicking that iBooks icon will copy the book into iBooks.
Ed
Thank you so much so much for doing this. I know, it’s a lot of work.
I’ve created a .pdf files for all lectures from 1996 and separate lectures of Zhuan Falun to read them on IPAD in IBOOKS.
The names of the files are started in this format year-month-date(2013-03-11, ) and follows by lecture title.
This way I was able create “collections” in IBOOKS:FA 1996, FA 1997,….. since they are sorted by titles now.
It is very convenient: just go to a collection by year and tap
on lecture name.
When I saw your epub files I found them even more convenient to read in IBOOKS since I could adjust the font size, can scroll.
Now I wish to convert my pdf files collection into epub files.
Could you recommend a reliable conversion software for that?
Thanks a lot,
Ed
For conversion, try Calibre. But as you may know, conversion is not trivial. Many details such as spacing, indents, superscripts, etc. may need adjustment. Why not just use the ePub files here? iBooks will find all the 2009 writings by simply typing ’2009′, regardless of where “2009″ appears in the title. It works very well without any sorting.
Thanks, I took your advise.
Does anyone know where I can find the Chinese versions for iBooks??
